“…People with a lower socio-economic status, as characterised by a low income level, low education level and low food security, were consistently reported to consume less amounts of flavonoids (10,37,46) , which seem to be attributable to lower amounts of fruits and vegetables (49)(50)(51) . Moreover, unhealthy lifestyles that included regular alcohol drinking, current smoking, irregular physical activity and infrequent breakfast consumption also resulted in an inadequate intake of flavonoid-high food items such as fruits and vegetables (50)(51)(52)(53) . The significant difference in flavonoid intake between supplement users and non-users in our study was also shown by other researchers (35,43) .…”

“…This finding is consistent with Hisayama study’s result [ 12 ] suggesting that the intake of lactic acid foods with probiotics was associated significantly with periodontitis, but that milk intake was not. Several studies reported that probiotics application was likely to have beneficial effects on periodontal disease [ 16 , 17 , 24 ], and it is suggested that probiotics produce metabolic substance such as reuterin which has the activity inhibiting the growth of periodontopathic bacteria [ 16 ]. However, there are few studies on the effect of probiotics of yogurt on periodontitis.…”

“…This result was similar to results in other studies reporting that a low education level is related to DM in women but not in men [ 28 30 ]. Women with a higher SES have been shown to eat adequate foods [ 31 , 32 ] and manage their weight through regular exercise and by checking their health status periodically. Education affects the acquisition and comprehension of health knowledge, and women with higher levels of education have easier access to information and resources that are helpful for health improvement; additionally, women in general have a higher level of interest in health issues than men.…”
