The TEX 86 proxy has been used to reconstruct SST successfully (Schouten et al, 2002;Kim et al, 2008;Rueda et al, 2009), but appears to be only applicable in small number of large lakes (Powers et al, 2004;Tierney et al, 2008;Sinninghe Damasté et al, 2009).
