Fluorescent screens and image processing for the APS linac test stand

Abstract: A fluorescent screen was used to monitor relative beam position and spot size of a 56-MEV electron beam in the linac test stand. A chromium doped alumina ceramic screen inserted into the beam was monitored by a video camera. The resulting image was capturedusing a frame grabber and storedintomemory. Reconstruction and analysis ofthestoredimage was performedusingPV-WAVE i. This paperwilldiscuss the hardware and softwareimplementationofthefluorescent screenand imaging system. Proposed improvements forthe APS lin… Show more

“…Al 2 O 3 :Cr 3+ is widely used as the scintillation screen in beam diagnostics of ions, electron and photon in accelerators and light sources [3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. Radioluminescence of this material has been investigated by lots of experiments, in which particle beams were used giving rise to high ionization and displacement rates.…”
