Fluorescent metal–organic framework based on pyrene chromophore for sensing of nitrobenzene

Abstract: A novel 3D MOF constructed by a dendritic ligand with pyrene chromophore and Mg was synthesized. The MOF shows specific fluorescence response to DMF and can sense nitrobenzene at a low detection level, making this a promising material for detecting explosive substances.

“…10,11 For example, a series of luminescent Zr-based highly luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LOMF) were reported as sensitive chemical sensors for toxic chemicals detection and removal, including nitroaromatic explosives. [12][13][14][15] Two water-stable 3D orescent Zr(IV)-based metal-organic frameworks were constructed with different pore structures. 16 Both their orescence could be efficiently quenched with nitro compound, which enables the sensitive detection of organic explosives with the detection limit reaches as low as ppb level.…”

“…Huang and co-workers designed a highly fluorescent MOF constructed by a rare dendritic multicarboxyl acid with a pyrene chromophore ligand and then applied in explosives detection very recently. 237 Ghosh's group designed and synthesized a novel 2D MOF with a starfish array and a super π-electron-rich surface, showing supramolecular wire effect (Fig. 26).…”

“…Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are one of the most rapidly developing fields in chemical and material sciences and emerging as an important family of porous materials not only because of their fascinating structures, but also due to their excellent properties in the fields of luminescence, magnetism, gas adsorption and catalysis [4][5][6][7][8]. Although rapid progress in the construction of MOFs has been made, it is still a considerable challenge to control the final structures, because many factors, such as temperature [9,10], solvent [11,12], metal/ligand ratios [13], pH values [14,15], influence the formation of the final structure.…”
