“…Further multi‐substituted HAp coatings, mainly based on F − /CO32- co‐doping, were deposited on titanium implants by Hidalgo‐Robatto et al through pulsed laser deposition (PLD), using fluorapatite from the shark teeth enameloid as a target. They evidenced that the final composition and crystalline phases of the produced films strictly depended on H 2 O vapour pressures applied during PLD: higher pressure values led to increased crystallinity, lower crystallite sizes and a more efficient compositional transference from the target (with the possibility to also transfer some minor elements, eg Na and Mg, in addition to Ca, P and F), and promoted the carbonate groups and H 2 O incorporation with consequent Ca/P ratio decrease to values of around 1.800.…”

“…Thickness of the PLD synthesized coatings can play an important role on their morphology, especially in the case of rough substrates. In Reference [89], films deposited in a water-vapor atmosphere onto Ti substrates were significantly thinner as compared to the ones deposited in vacuum. The calculated deposition rates were 3.5 nm/min for depositions conducted in water vapors, and 18.1 nm/min for depositions performed in vacuum.…”
