Flow field analysis of submerged horizontal plate type breakwater

Abstract: Abstract-A submerged horizontal plate type breakwater is pointed out as an efficient wave protection device for cage culture in marine fishery. In order to reveal the wave elimination principle of this type breakwater, boundary element method is utilized to investigate this problem. The flow field and the trajectory of water particles are studied carefully. The flow field analysis shows that: the interaction of incident wave and adverse current above the plate disturbs the water domain drastically. This can sl… Show more

“…In 2001, Brossard et al [8] showed experimentally, using a mobile probes technique, that during the interaction between a regular wave and plate, there is free upper harmonic production. In 2012, K. Wang et al [9] presented an analysis of the velocity field using a numerical method (BEM). In 2014, H. Behera and T. Sahoo [10] studied the interaction of a gravity wave and of a flexible porous horizontal plate.…”

“…It is applied in a wide range of engineering geology, and used more in the offshore wind turbine engineering application [3]. Domestic and foreign scholars, Murff [4], Bransby and Randolph [5], Gourvenec and Randolph [6], Zhang Qiyi [7] etc, carried on a large amount of numerical study. Based on the finite element software and Mohr-Coulomb yield criterion of ideal elastic-plastic constitutive model, for the soft soil foundation, the failure mode of offshore wind turbines foundation are simulated [8].…”
