“…The pollen grains of the Celastraceae genera investigated here were previously reported in some studies that describe the pollen diversity in the family (Erdtman 1952; Roubik and Moreno 1991; Nagamitsu and Nagamasu 1994; Bogota and Sánchez 2001; Melhem et al 2003; Cruz-Barros et al 2005; Perveen and Qaiser 2008; Bauermann et al 2009; Cassino and Meyer 2011; Radaeski et al 2014; Cassino et al 2016). However, for Monteverdia dasyclada , M. schummaniana , M. urbaniana and Pristimera celastroides this is the first record of studies of their pollen morphology.…”

“…Cruz-Barros et al (2005) described the pollen grains of Monteverdia gonoclada (formerly called M. robusta Reissek) as monad and prolate-spheroidal, with a subtriangular amb, tricolporate endoapertures, colpi with margo, lalongate endoapertures with margo, reticulate and heterobrochate sexine, and sexine thicker than nexine. This agrees with the present description of the species, with the exception of the shape, endoaperture and margo.…”

“…O formato atual da Flora Polínica do PEFI segue Cruz-Barros & Souza (2005). O estudo morfológico dos polinários é importante como material de referência para a palinologia aplicada servindo como base de dados para pesquisas sobre polinização zoófi la.…”
