Abstract. The diversity of smartphones and tablet computers has become an integral part of modern life. An essential requirement for web application development is following web usability guidelines, while designing web user interface (UI). Even a minor change in UI could lead to usability problems. Empirical evaluation methods like interviews and questionnaires with user-tests and card sorting are effective in finding such problems. Nevertheless, there are multiple obstacles preventing the application of these methods especially for evaluating minor UI changes, for instance, due to the time and human-resources they require, and the amount of data to be processed. The purpose of this current publication is to present Guideliner -a tool for implementation-time automatic evaluation of web UI conformance to predefined usability guidelines. The main contribution of the presented solution is enabling immediate cost-efficient and automated web UI evaluation that conforms to available and set standards.

In recent years, given the development of networks and technological innovations, the user mobility has increased so much. That is why the interactive applications must be executed on both mobile devices as PDAs, mobile phones and PC. The user is then progressing in a varied and dynamic environment. Therefore, the challenges of the User Interface are related to the adaptation to the context of use. This paper describes a model-based approach to generate user interfaces adapted to their context of use, while respecting usability. The Model Driven Engineering is used to provide solutions to the problems of adaptation and usability and allow automatic generation of user interfaces. Abstract-3D interface devices are being announced as rendering virtual world navigation easier. We have prepared a usability testing framework for two such devices, SpaceNavigator and SpacePilot PRO, manufactured by 3Dconnexion. The paper summarizes the underlying concepts of usability testing and links them to the requirements of a virtual world 3D interface context. We detail the metrics to be employed and the reasoning behind their selection, and the planning which yielded the actual framework to be used for conducting the 3D interface usability tests in the Second Life virtual world.
