FleaNet: A Virtual Market Place on Vehicular Networks

Abstract: Abstract-Over recent years, mobile Internet devices such as laptops, PDAs, smart phones etc, have become extremely popular and widespread. Once on board of a vehicle, these devices can automatically connect to the vehicle processor and thus greatly amplify the communications and processing capabilities available to the owner in a "pedestrian mode." We envision that this "amplification" opportunity will be one of the drivers of car to car and car to curb communications. In fact, the car communications system wi… Show more

“…In particular, we consider a range of R from R = 600m, which corresponds 4x4 grids in our simulation, to R = 1200m, which corresponds to 8x8 grids. Figure 12 VANET and Vehicular Sensor Networks: VANET have recently stimulated promising research by envisioning a large number of applications ranging from safe cooperative driving [70] to entertainment support [47,48,40] and distributed data collection [14,59]. So far, however, most VANET research has focused on the crucial primary issue of routing.…”

“…Vehicular networks represent an interesting application scenario not only for traffic safety and efficiency but also for more commercial applications and entertainment support such as content sharing [10], peerto-peer marketing [22], and urban data collecting [15,20]. Most vehicular network researches have focused on routing issues.…”

“…Scalability through aggregation of information and intelligent broadcasts are achieved with the help of a digital road-map. Uichin et al [10] propose a buysell based virtual market place on vehicular networks. Dissemination is through neighbors that come into contact with each other.…”
