This study was performed to evaluate the effect of inclusion of boiled tomato waste powder in laying hens diet on growth performances and egg quality. Tomato waste used in this experiment was surplus and unsold mature tomato from the last harvest on the field. The tomato waste was boiled in boiling water (100 ºC) for 8 minutes to convert their lycopene structure from trans to cis, which is easily absorbed by the poultry digestive tract. In a completely randomized design, 200 Isa Brown laying hens were divided into five groups with different inclusion levels of boiled tomato waste powder (0, 3, 6, 9 and 12%) in an iso-nitrogenous (16%) and iso-caloric (2600 kcal/kg) diet. Daily feed intake, hen day egg production, egg weight, egg mass, feed conversion ratio, eggshell thickness, and eggshell strength were measured. The obtained results showed that boiled tomato waste powder in the diet did not significantly affect daily feed intake, feed conversion ratio, egg production and egg quality. In conclusion, the tomato boiled powder could be used up to 12% in laying hens diet with no effect on performance and egg quality of laying hens.

Carotenoids are one of the widespread and ubiquitous lipid-soluble pigments that produce a wide range of colours which are universally found in various plants, microalgae, bacteria and fungi. Recently, interest in using carotenoids as feed ingredients has increased markedly owing to their bioactive and health-promoting properties. In terms of applications, carotenoid-rich products are widely available in the form of food and feed additive, supplements and natural colourants. Carotenoids play a versatile biological role that contributes to therapeutic effects, including anticancer, immunomodulators, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antidiabetic and neuroprotective. Dietary supplementation of carotenoids not only improves the production performance and health of poultry birds, but also enhances the quality of egg and meat. Several studies have suggested that the supplementation of plant derived carotenoids revealed numerous health-promoting activities in poultry birds. Carotenoids reduce the oxidative stress in pre-hatched and post-hatched birds through different mechanisms, including quench free radicals, activating antioxidant enzymes and inhibiting the signalling pathways. Use of carotenoids in poultry feed as a part of nutrient that confers bird health and improve product quality. Carotenoids play a critical role for the pigmentation of egg yolk, skin, legs, beak, comb, feather and fat. Birds consumed carotenoid deficient diet resulting hues of their egg yolk or pale coloured skin. Therefore, uniform pigmentation generally indicates the health status and quality of the poultry products. This review aims to gather recent information regarding bioactive properties of carotenoids and highlight pharmaceutical and health beneficial effects of carotenoids for the poultry industry. Additionally, it explores the importance of carotenoids as alternative feed ingredients for poultry to boost the production performance and replace synthetic medicine and nutrients.

Естественное обогащение пищевых продуктов растительного и животного происхождения необходимыми для человека нутриентами (биофртификация) рассматривается в современной диетологии как альтернатива применению химически синтезируемых пищевых добавок. При получении биофортифицированных яиц кур корма в основном обогащают одним или двумя микронутриентами. Однако для большей части взрослого и детского населения планеты характерен одновременный недостаток сразу нескольких микронутриентов (витаминов, каротиноидов, минеральных веществ) и полиненасыщенных жирных кислот (ПНЖК). Кроме того, комплексное обогащение продуктов питания сбалансированным набором нутриентов позволяет не только компенсировать существующий дефицит, но и контролировать вторичные дефициты по тем веществам, потребность которых в организме может возрастать в результате изменения диеты. В настоящей работе нами выполнена биофортификация куриных яиц одновременно по четырем дефицитным микронутриентам, которые к тому же имеют неодинаковую химическую природу и обладают разными физиологическими свойствами. В рационе кур-несушек (порода Леггорн, кросс СП 789, 4 группы по n = 30, содержание в клеточных батареях, длительность эксперимента 60 сут, 2019 год) во всех группах содержание ω-6 и ω-3-ПНЖК (источники-льняное масло и льняной жмых) составляло соответственно 2,18 и 1,97 %, а их соотношение 1,11:1; витамина Е (D-альфа-токоферол, концентрат)-150 г, селена-0,5 г/т (органический и неорганический 1:1, в форме Sel-Pleх® и селенита натрия). В комбикорм опытных II, III и IV групп дополнительно вводили каротиноиды-соответственно 10, 14 и 18 г/т (в виде экстракта цветков бархатцев Tagetes erecta), а в контрольной I группе их фоновое содержание составляло 7,5 г/т. Введение в корм каротиноидов (на фоне постоянного состава трех остальных микронутриентов, испытанных нами ранее) существенно не отражалось на яичной продуктивности птицы (45,1-46,9 шт.), конверсии корма в продукцию (1,58-1,63 кг на 10 яиц и 2,43-2,50 кг на 1 кг яичной массы), морфологических качествах яиц (масса яйца-65,0-65,2 г, желтка-18,1-18,3 г, белка-39,3-39,7 г, скорлупы-7,0-7,1 г). Яйца, обогащенные одновременно четырьмя микронутриентами, не только представляют собой ценный пищевой продукт-источник лютеина, селена, ПНЖК и витамина Е, но и могут использоваться в качестве компонента при создании функциональных пищевых продуктов. Количество каротиноидов в яйце зависело от их уровня в корме птицы. За счет увеличения концентрации каротиноидов в желтке повышалась интенсивность его окраски в 1,66-1,84 раза, что улучшило товарный вид и потребительские качества яиц. В лучшей группе содержание каротиноидов в 100 г съедобной части яйца составило 0,7 мг, селена-62 мкг, витамина Е-10 мг, ω-3 ПНЖК-417 мг (при соотношении ω-6:ω-3-3,1:1), что соответственно в 3,96; 1,62; 4,37 и 2,42 раза выше, чем в необогащенных яйцах.
