Fixed points in the evolution of neutrino mixings

Abstract: We derive the renormalization group equations for the neutrino masses and mixing angles in explicit form and discuss the possible classes of their solutions. We identify fixed points in the equations for mixing angles, which can be reached during the evolution for several mass patterns and give sin 2 2θ sol = sin 2 2θ atm sin 2 θ 3 /(sin 2 θ atm cos 2 θ 3 + sin 2 θ 3 ) 2 , consistently with the present experimental information. Further experimental test of this relation is of crucial interest. Moreover, we dis… Show more

“…It is known that RGEs of neutrino mixing angles exhibit quasi-fixed points at low energies and these predicted quasi-fixed points are not in agreement with the observed experimental data [23]. Exploiting the HUM hypothesis we have shown [7,9,28] that these quasi-fixed ponts can be avoided in supersymmetry throgh radiative magnification which is achieved by appropiate fine-tuning of quasi-degenerate neutrino mass eigen values and for larger values of tan β.…”

“…We again emphasize the point noted in [7] that successful radiative magnification requires that m 0 ≥ 0.1 eV. Our idea can therefore be ruled out if there is no evidence for Majorana neutrino mass in the next round of neutrino double beta decay searches [12] as well as, of course, by the measurement of θ 13 .It is known that RGEs of neutrino mixing angles exhibit quasi-fixed points at low energies and these predicted quasi-fixed points are not in agreement with the observed experimental data [23]. “…Interestingly, in the inverted hierarchy case the RGE evolution of the solar mixing depends crucially on the neutrino CP-parities [25,27]. The RGE equation for the solar mixing angle in this case adopts a simple form, which is valid for small θ 13 , as experiments indicate, given by [28], (1 + cos(φ 1 − φ 2 ))+O(θ 13 ).…”
