“…TNFα receptors, TNFR1 and TNFR2, have been described for several fish species ( 129 ). The functions of TNFR1 are, among others, related to apoptosis or cellular death while TNFR2 is involved in the promotion of cell survival ( 129 ).…”

The functions of TNFR1 are, among others, related to apoptosis or cellular death while TNFR2 is involved in the promotion of cell survival ( 129 ). tnfr1 is expressed in many tissues, but tnfr2 is more tissue specific, limited to immune, endothelial, microglia and nerve cells ( 129 ).…”

“…Lysozymes, complement and phosphatases are known to be as important immune factors, playing a central role in the innate immune response for protection against microbial pathogens in fish (Cain & Swan, 2010; Trichet, 2010). Tnfα is one type of cytokines mainly produced by macrophages, and Fish Tnfα augments the respiratory burst response, upholds the proliferation and development of T cells in fish thymus and enhances migration of immune cells, which plays a critical role in regulating the inflammatory process, although excess Tnfα is detrimental to the host (Li et al, 2020). The above results suggest that dietary enriched EPA and DHA, and especially EPA, contribute to promoting the intestinal immune response in T. ovatus .…”

“…Teleosts contain over 26,000 described species, economically important to humans. Also they are crucial for evolutionary biology (Li et al, 2021). Up to date, type III IFN is not reported in teleosts.…”
