“…MDR was identified in 42 out of 59 AMR isolates (71.2%). The prevalence of MDR isolates from small mammals in Hanoi was higher than those observed in Vancouver, Canada birds and rodents were concerned as potential carriers and/ or spreaders of colistin-resistant E. coli [1,2,4,13,34,45,47]. Our data revealed that urban rodents could be a carrier and spreader of colistin-resistant E. coli ( Table 6).…”

“…In a clinical study from King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC) in Riyadh (Alghoribi et al, 2015), six ST405 E. coli harboring bla CTX-M were detected in UTI and ST405 (P ≤ 0.02) were significantly associated with ESBL production. ST405 extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing E. coli (ESBL-EC) was also detected in animals, in which one ST405 ESBL-EC was screened in barbary macaques (Macaca sylvanus) in Algeria, notably, it held the mcr-1, bla TEM−1 , and qnrB19 genes and bla CTX-M-15 (Bachiri et al, 2017). We observed a similar pattern and a UTI25 (ST405 ESBL-EC) isolate harbored mcr-1, bla TEM , qnrB, and bla CTX-M−64 .…”

“…[Color figure can be viewed at wileyonlinelibrary.com] ST162 E. coli carrying mcr-1 was also isolated from a wild Black vulture in Spain (Oteo et al, 2018) and two mcr-1positive E. coli isolated from imported reptiles (Asian grass lizards) in Germany (Unger et al, 2017). In Africa, a Macaca sylvanus, a primate, was found to be colonized with a ST405 E. coli carrying the mcr-1 gene in Algeria (Table 1) (Bachiri et al, 2018).…”
