“…CBCVd) was considered as minor pathogen in the genus Citrus 11 , but it was associated with severe bark cracking on trifoliate orange rootstock 15 17 . CEVd was known to have a wide host range 6 , 18 , 19 , and symptoms in different species of citrus, such as stunting, bark sloughing and cracking, leaf epinasty and cracks in the petiole 20 25 . CVd-III was reported to have of particular interest due to its genomic variability beside its significant reduction of growth and yield 26 29 .…”

has a global distribution and a broad host range including woody plants such as citrus, grape and fig (Semancik et al 1973;García-Arenal et al 1987;Yakoubi et al 2007), as well as herbaceous plants such as tomato, eggplant, carrot, broad bean and petunia (Mishra et al 1991;Fagoaga et al 1995;Fagoaga and Durán-Vila 1996;van Brunschot et al 2014). The viroid is mechanically transmissible (Barbosa et al 2005) and, importantly for perennial crops such as citrus, is disseminated in asymptomatically-infected, vegetative propagules such as budwood.

“…(Van Brunschot et al, 2014). The transmission of the viroid was carried out by grafting infected buds in healthy trees, or mechanically (Lin et al, 2015a) with the use of a cutting instrument and contaminated trimming.…”
