“…We have previously illustrated symptoms on sunflower (isolate-1973), mung bean (isolate-2027), cotton (isolate-2120) and chickpea (isolate-1979) (Sharman et al, 2008), and further images of TSV symptoms on a range of crop and weed hosts are shown in Fig. 1a-i. The strain-specific MP-PCRs for each RNA segment worked very well for identification of TSV strains from a wide range of hosts (Table 1).…”

“…In the similar manner, natural infection of TSV has been reported from other countries: horticultural crops: Black raspberry (Rubus occidentalis) [18], crane berry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) [17], dahlia (Dahlia variabilis) [24]; agricultural crops: Solanaceous crops: pepper (Capsicum spp.) [14], tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) [11], Potato (Solanum tuberosum) [30], tomato (S. lycopersicum) [8], Legume crops: soybean (G. max) [13], cowpea (V. unguiculata), white clover (Melilotus alba) [19], groundnut (A. hypogaea) [7], Other crops: sunflower (H. annuus) [9,31], cotton (G. hirsutum) [35]. So far, experimental host range of TSV was reported by authors from different countries [8,12,19,25].…”

“…TSV was first reported in Australia in 1971 and has subsequently been reported on tobacco, strawberry, dahlia and various weed species, mostly from south-eastern Qld (Greber et al 1991). More recently, TSV has been reported infecting sunflower, cotton, mung bean and chickpea Qld (Sharman et al 2008). Typical symptoms of TSV on beans are shown in Figure 3.…”
