“…R. pretiosus is distributed in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans as well as in the Mediterranean Sea (Collette et al, 2015). Several specimens of the species have been recorded in the Adriatic Sea (Bettoso & Dulcic, 1999), the Turkish Seas and the Greek Seas (Karachle et al, 2016) and along the Libyan Coast (Elbaraasi et al, 2007). Hereby, we present the first records of R. pretiosus in the Albanian waters.…”

“…The specimen measured 55 cm total length and weighed 1272 g total weight. Meristic counts and morphometric measurements are compared in Table with those in other publications (Bettoso and Dulcic, ; Kaya and Bilecenoğlu, ; Elbaraasi et al., ). The morphological features are well known, and those of the captured specimen are in full agreement with the textbooks: slightly compressed elongated body; large mouth, not protractile, with strong teeth in both jaws; large and round eyes; single lateral line, often obscure; very rough skin on body and covered with cycloid scales, interspersed with rows of sharp bony tubercles; belly keeled between ventral fins and anus.…”

“…Ruvettus pretiosus are usually found in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans as well as the Mediterranean Sea (Froese and Pauly, ). A first report in the Mediterranean was in 1987 (Fischer et al., ), in northern Turkish waters for the first time by Kaya and Bilecenoğlu (), and by Bettoso and Dulcic () in the Adriatic Sea. Ruvettus pretiosus was further reported from Benghazi in March 2004 off the Libyan coast (southern Mediterranean) (Elbaraasi et al., ).…”

“…Dul i & Grbec (2000) report that the first two responses are seen in the first occurrence of 15 subtropical and tropical species (e.g. Ruvettus pretiosus; Bettoso & Dul i , 1999), and an increase in frequency of occurrence of other southern species (Sardinella aurita and Balistes carolinensis). A striking example of a new occurrence is Plectorhinchus mediterraneus, found in the Gulf of Trieste and Piran Bay in the Northern Adriatic (northernmost record -no haemulids have been recorded from the Adriatic before) (Lipej et al, 1996;Dul i & Lipej, 1997).…”
