First certified reference material for cystatin C in human serum ERM-DA471/IFCC

Abstract: The IFCC Working Group for the Standardisation of Cystatin C (WG-SCC), in collaboration with the Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM), announces the availability of the new certified reference material ERM-DA471/IFCC. The material was characterised using a pure protein primary reference preparation (PRP) as calibrant. The PRP was prepared from recombinant cystatin C, and its concentration measured using dry mass determination. The characterisation of ERM-DA471/IFCC was performed by particl… Show more

“…30 Serum cystatin C was measured on the Siemens BN100 Nephelometer using a particle-enhanced immunonephelometric assay (coefficient of variation of 2.7% and 5.5% for intra-and inter-assay imprecision, respectively), with assays traceable to International Federation for Clinical Chemists Working Group for the Standardization of Serum Cystatin C and the Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements certified reference materials. [31][32][33] GFR Estimation Equations eGFR was computed from equations developed by CKD-EPI, the Japanese group, BIS, and CAPA. 6,[15][16][17][18] Supplemental Table 8 shows these equations in detail.…”

“…Serum creatinine was measured using a creatinase enzymatic method on a Roche Modular P Chemistry Analyzer (Roche Diagnostics, Indianapolis, Indiana) and standardized to isotope-dilution mass spectrometry. Serum cystatin C level measured by a turbidimetric method (Gentian AS, Moss, Norway), calibrated and standardized to International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) reference 25 .…”

“…Plasma Cystatin C (CysC) was measured using the N Latex cystatin C assay on the Behring Nephelometer II (Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Products GmbH, Marburg, Germany) (intra-assay coefficient of variation [CV]: 1.4%; inter-assay CV: 5.4%) and was standardized according to the ERM-DA471/IFCC reference material. 25 Creatinine was measured in serum (Scr) using the rateblanked compensated Jaffe technique (Modular P and Cobas 6000, Roche Diagnostics GmbH, Mannheim, Germany).…”
