Finite-size projectile effects in relativistic ion-atom collisions

Abstract: The role of a finite-sized projectile nucleus in relativistic ion-atom collisions is investigated. Finite nucleus sizes are accounted for by regularizing the Coulomb potential at small distances. Analytical estimations of the corrections to the transition cross section due to the finite size of the projectile nucleus are obtained.
