Fine Tuning of the Electronic Properties of Novel BTPE Using Oligosilanyl Linkages and Their Application in Rapid High-Resolution Visualization of Latent Fingerprints

Abstract: Structural modifications through π-interactions usually result in redshifts in luminescence and, as a consequence, the loss of the natural color of the chromophore. Besides, employing Si-Si σ-bridging to manipulate the electronic properties of organic materials has remained largely unexplored. Herein, we report a series of novel bis-tetraphenylethenes (BTPEs) with oligosilanyl linkages, termed BTPE-Sin molecules, used to manipulate the photophysical properties of luminogens subtly through σ-π conjugation. Thes… Show more

“…However, after all the pre‐mixture emulsion being added in, the peak position of PL spectra red shifted to 480 nm and its intensity enhanced more than tenfold, the phenomenon happened in a very short time with the reaction carrying on, which might tell us the auto acceleration effect 21 happened with high‐density of reacting monomers and enough free radicals initiators in the micelles. We have proposed that restriction of intramolecular rotation (RIR) is the main cause for the AIE phenomenon 22 when AIEgen and monomers are knitted together by covalent bonds to form polymer chains during emulsion process, the RIR process will partially activate. This restriction blocks the nonradiative pathway and opens up the radiative channel, 23 and thus make the synthesized acrylate emulsion somewhat emissive.…”

“…The intramolecular rotation is restricted in solid state due to the involved physical constraint. [28][29][30] Notably, PL wavelength of benzogermoles in the deep-blue and blue regions could be precisely modulated for every 10 nm (Table 1), which highlights the excellent luminescence control. To validate the AIE characteristics, PL behaviors of 5c-5f in the aggregated state were investigated, as shown in Supporting…”

“…10,11 It is a remarkable fact that the oligosilane-containing materials exhibit superior performance to some extent compared with the πbridged system. 12 Carbazole-based compounds have attracted considerable attention as hole-transporting and light-emitting materials in scientific and industrial fields. 13 Carbazole derivatives are usually employed as an electronic-donor group and they exhibit good absorption and fluorescence.…”
