Fine mapping of the R SC14Q locus for resistance to soybean mosaic virus in soybean

Abstract: Soybean mosaic virus (SMV) disease is one of the most destructive soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) diseases worldwide, causing yield losses and significant deterioration in seed quality. 'Qihuang No.1' has a wide resistance spectrum and is extensively used in breeding programs in China. The dominant SMV resistance gene R SC14Q from the cultivar Qihuang No.1 was previously mapped to a 4.2 cM region on soybean chromosome 13 (formerly linkage group (LG) F). Fine mapping of R SC14Q is essential for high efficiency… Show more

“…Three independent, single‐dominant SMV resistance gene loci ( Rsv1 , Rsv3 , Rsv4 ) have been mapped on soybean chromosomes 13, 14, and 2, respectively (Yu et al ; Hayes et al ; Hayes and Saghai Maroof 2000; Gore et al ; Jeong and Saghai Maroof ; Saghai Maroof et al ). In China, several SMV resistance genes have been localized to chromosomes 2, 13, 14, and 6 (Fu et al ; Li et al ; Ma et al ; Wang et al , ; Yang and Gai ; Yang et al ).…”

“…The microRNA and small interfering RNA pathways are also known to regulate defense against SMV . Resistance to the strains from China is derived from the Rsc loci, and these have been mapped to chromosomes 2, 13, and 14 in the cultivars Kefeng 1, Qihuang, and Dabaima, respectively Ma et al, 2011;Zheng et al, 2014).…”

“…Soybean mosaic virus strains (SC1‐SC21) used in this study were provided by the National Center for Soybean Improvement (NCSI, Nanjing, China) and maintained in leaves of susceptible cultivar ‘Nannong 1138‐2’ (NN). SMV strains SC10, SC14, SC15 and SC18 were identical with those previously used (Li et al., , ; Ma et al., ; Rui et al., ; Yang & Gai, ). The SMV inoculation and serological determination (double antibody sandwich enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay, DAS‐ELISA) was conducted (Gao et al., ; Li et al., ) following the manufacturer's instructions (ACD Inc., Fayetteville, AR, USA).…”
