“…The accelerated therapy with a split course did not show any advantage over conventional therapy with respect to tumour control (22). An accelerated schedule used for nasopharyngeal cancer proved to be more toxic to the nervous system than a slower fractionation (26).…”

“…In (22) two groups with different types of accelerated fractionation are compared with conventional fractionation. In (26) only nasopharyngeal cancers are included and the controls are not treated conventionally. The 6-week concomitant boost technique of (22) (24) and (25) all demonstrated a significantly better locoregional control compared with conventional therapy.…”

“…Yan etkiler tolere edilebilecek düzeyde bulunmuştur. Teo ve arkadaşları (12) akselere HFRT protokollerinde iki boyutlu planlama ile yüksek oranda geç toksisitede artış saptamışlardır. Fakat yapılan bazı çalışmalarda bu toksisite artışının pür haftada 6 günlük akselere tedavi (13) ve pür HFRT protokollerinde (14) saptanmadığı belirtilmiştir.…”

“…Altered fractionation of XRT in form of accelerated hyperfractionation has been proposed for NPC in order to enhance the locoregional and overall tumor control rates [20]. However, the randomized trial performed by Teo et al, comparing the treatment efficacy of partial HART (pHART) vs. CXRT in Ho stage I ÁIII NPC, had to be prematurely terminated due to unacceptable excess of radiationrelated neurological side effects in the pHART arm (49.4% vs. 23.2%, respectively) [15]. The dose prescriptions in that study were 71.2 Gy (20 Gy/8 fr of CXRT'/51.2 Gy 1.6 Gy/fr bid) in pHART arm and 60 Gy/24 fr in CXRT arm.…”
