Field trial of a real-time, single wavelength, coherent 100 Gbit/s PM-QPSK channel upgrade of an installed 1800km link

Abstract: We demonstrate a real-time, single-wavelength, coherent 100G PM-QPSK upgrade of a field system. Performance sufficient for error-free operation after forward-error-correction was achieved over installed 900km and 1800km links, proving the viability of seamless 100Gb/s upgrades.

“…From 1970 to 1980, a wave of technological development based on computer mainframes began to appear, and its corresponding business model was dominated by automated data processing. With the advent of the client-server interaction concept in the 1990s [9], more and more users owned personal computers, which led to the development of new business models based on knowledge-based work and the restructuring of enterprise in various fields. In 2000, the concept of Internet 1.0 promoted the rapid development of B2B, B2C, e-commerce, and ERP.…”

“…Furthermore, the chromatic and the polarization mode dispersion are reduced [7]. A single carrier signal's capacity can be doubled by polarization multiplexing, followed by polarization diversity optical coherent detection [8]. Very recently, Dual-Polarization Quadrate Phase Shift Keying (DP-QPSK) is the most exciting technology.…”

“…Now in terms of compensation of long-distance optical fiber transmission loss, the research is most based on the digital signal processing (DSP) linear damage compensation technology [10][11]. Such as the estimation and compensation of CD and PMD using DSP in electrical field, reference [12] Fabian N. Hauske from HUAWEI. In reference [13] 40 Gbit/s QPSK signal polarization multiplexing transmission was used in single-mode fiber (SMF) for 100 km, signals received are processed via A/D conversion offline DSP.…”
