In this research, 15 meteorological stations located in western Anatolia in Turkey were investigated for determining temperature properties. The vegetation season has been determined according to days when the daily temperature was greater than or equal to 8°C. The research area has 3 different vegetation durations as longer (more than 225 days in the western and southern parts), moderate (210-220 days in plateaus around Uşak, Gediz and Demirci), and shorter (180-195 days in the eastern part and less than 180 days in mountainous areas). Then, the vegetation has been reinvestigated according to climate change scenarios (RCP 4.5 and 8.5). For this purpose, the daily mean temperatures were raised by 2.6°C and 4.8°C for RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5, respectively. In the reinvestigation period, the vegetation period will increase about 15-20 days or over 40 days according to RCP 4.5 and 8.5, respectively. Along with the increase in temperature throughout the research area, growing seasons will be significantly affected, beginning and ending dates of vegetation would shift. Owing to climate change effects, mountainous areas may be affected more than low altitude areas. As a conclusion due to the result of increasing temperature, plant development and distribution will be affected, and new plant species may occur.

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is considered as the high potential food security crop and a major instrument for poverty alleviation in Ethiopia. However, it is most vulnerable to climate change due to its exact climatic requirement for various physiological processes. There are many indicators of environmental stresses including climate change, especially global warming, are severely affecting potato growth and productivity worldwide. The changing climate will affect the potato production adversely due to drought ,salinity,frost,flooding, erratic unseasonal rains ,surface temperature, increase in CO2 fertilization, but decreases after some extent. Besides, anthropogenic activities such as CO2 may increase crop yields due to increased CO2, CH4 and CFC's are contributing to the global warming. Under changing climatic situations crop failures, longer growing season, shortage of yields, reduction in quality, influence the pest and disease occurrences, host-pathogen interactions, distribution, and ecology of insects, there by becoming major setback to potato cultivation. Therefore, adaptation strategies needed such as cropping systems and other inputs, shifting growing areas and planting date, improving water management and breeding new tolerant potato varieties. This paper reviews verified that recent impact of climate change in potato production and adaptation strategies.

The effects of human activities on climate change are a significant area of research in the field of global environmental change. Land use and land cover change (LUCC) has a greater effect on climate than greenhouse gases, and the effect of farmland expansion on regional drought is particularly important. From the 1910s to the 2010s, cultivated land in Songnen Plain increased by 2.67 times, the area of cultivated land increased from 4.92×10 4 km 2 to 13.14×10 4 km 2 , and its percentage of all land increased from 25% to 70%. This provides an opportunity to study the effects of the conversion of natural grassland to farmland on climate. In this study, the drought indices in Songnen Plain were evaluated from the 1910s to the 2010s, and the effect of farmland expansion on drought was investigated using statistical methods and the Weather Research and Forecasting Model based on UK's Climatic Research Unit data. The resulting dryness index, Palmer drought severity index, and standardized precipitation index values indicated a significant drying trend in the study area from 1981 to 2010. This trend can be attributed to increases in maximum temperature and diurnal temperature range, which increased the degree of drought. Based on statistical analysis and simulation, the maximum temperature, diurnal temperature range, and sensible heat flux increased during the growing season in Songnen Plain over the past 100 years, while the minimum temperature and latent heat flux decreased. The findings indicate that farmland expansion caused a drying trend in Songnen Plain during the study period.
