Field-Based Biochar, Pumice, and Mycorrhizae Application on Dryland Agriculture in Reducing Soil Erosion

Abstract: Biochar, pumice, and mycorrhizae applications using direct testing methods in the field have not been widely carried out. The application of biochar in this study was used as a conservation material to control runoff and erosion. The research was conducted using a field plot during the peak of the rainy season (March-April) of 2021. The study was conducted in areas where the soil material is dominated by clay (>40%) and steep slope angles (>60%). The cropping pattern at the research site is generally cas… Show more

“…Biochar favors stable soil structure and high aggregate stability for increasing soil porosity and reducing erodibility [113]. The porous form of biochar can bind nutrients and water, improving the soil's capacity to hold water and preventing water erosion [114]. Higher clay content in the soil results in a larger specific surface area, making it more favorable for interactions with biochar compared to soils with lower clay content.…”

“…Landslides are the result of complex factors, including various causes and triggers (Loche et al, 2022;McColl, 2022). Factors that affect landslides in this study are slope, soil texture, soil wrinkle index, rainfall, topography position index, and land cover (Miswar et al, 2022;Nugraha et al, 2022). Landslides can occur because they are triggered by one or more factors.…”
