The necessity of modernizing current control systems for functional units of a nuclear power plant, as well as the development of new control systems with a high degree of reliability and speed, is substantiated. The advantages of using optical sensors and fiber-optic communication lines to solve these problems are noted. Cases for which it is necessary to develop new fiber-optic sensors for monitoring parameters, for example, the flow of coolant or feed water, are considered. In some of them, it is more expedient to use standard designs of fiber-optic sensors to control the operating parameters of various blocks, for example, to control the electric field strength. A device and a control scheme for the parameters of the units and systems of a nuclear power plant using fiber-optic communication lines have been developed. The results of measuring various parameters of a nuclear reactor are presented. They showed that our proposed fiber-optic control and monitoring system for nuclear power plants operates more reliably and efficiently than systems with analogue control and measurement channels. The use of fiber-optic systems allows real-time remote control and high-speed control in terms of issuing commands to devices. This is very important when servicing a nuclear power plant while it is operating in extreme conditions.

In a paper the method for remote monitoring of the radiation characteristics of the environment in the area of the nuclear power plant is considered. To solve this problem, the need to use remote methods of environmental monitoring is justified A method is proposed for determining radioactive formations in the atmosphere using a radar station. Using the methodology for determining radioactive formations in the atmosphere by changing the reflection coefficient of an electromagnetic wave from a given formation is justified. Calculation of changes in the reflection coefficient of an electromagnetic wave from a radioactive formation in the atmosphere for different climatic conditions is calculated. The results of studies of radioactive contamination in the atmosphere are presented. The advantages of the method developed by us in comparison with others are noted. The directions of scientific research to expand the functionality of the method developed by us are determined.

The article considers the possible ways to optimize the technological solutions of the recharge and boron control system of nuclear power plants under construction within the AES-2006 project. The possibilities for optimization of technological solutions of the system of recharge and boron regulation of the AES-2006 project, which will not affect the reliability and efficiency of its main functions: purge-recharge of the primary circuit and boron regulation, were studied. As a result of the analysis of technological solutions and analytical calculations carried out during the work, it was found that in the system of recharge and boron regulation of the NPP within the project AES-2006 it is possible to perform optimization basing on reduction the metal content of the heat exchange equipment by reducing the surface area of the heat exchangers of the coolant outlet, reducing the power of pumps, as well as reducing the diameter of a number of main pipelines. Implementation of the proposed optimization of technological solutions will allow a more rational arrangement of the system and reduce capital costs for the construction of nuclear power plants as a whole, while not adversely affect the safety of the system and its functions.
