Ionic liquids and derivatives-mainly polymeric ionic liquids and magnetic ionic liquids-have been extensively used in microscale extraction over the past few years. Current trends in analytical sample preparation gear toward linking microextraction approaches with high-throughput sample processing to comply with green analytical chemistry requirements. A variety of high sample throughput strategies that are coupled to both ionic-liquid-based solid-phase microextraction and ionic liquid-based liquid-phase microextraction are herein reported. The review is focused on microscale extraction methods that use (i) custom-made and dedicated extraction devices, (ii) parallel extraction, (iii) magnetic-based separation, and (iv) miniaturized systems employing semi-automatic or fully automatic flow injection methods, related micro/millifluidic devices, and robotic equipment. In this paper, 4-aminosalicylic acid functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNT-ASA) filled in a mini-column and attached to a Flow-injection system for the adsorptive removal of Crystal violet (CV) dye was employed. The remaining CV concentration was detected by a UV-Visible Spectrophotometric method, which is proposed in this paper. The factors influencing the adsorption and desorption of CV, such as pH, eluent, sample and eluent flow rates were optimized. The optimum pH was 5.5, the eluent selected for desorption was 1 N acetic acid: ethanol (8 : 2), and the sample and eluent flow rate were both 5 mL min À 1 . Under the optimum conditions, the results obtained showed that CNT-ASA possessed excellent dye removal efficiency of ∼ 99 % and adsorption capacity of 440 mg g À 1 for CV. The advantage of using the flow-injection system is the faster adsorption process (in just 1 minute), less amount and high reuse of the nano-adsorbent, which is better in comparison to the traditional column method. The proposed method was applied on industrial and river water samples and good recovery (99-105 %) was obtained. Hence, it can be concluded that the proposed method is fast, effective, and can be applied on large-scale wastewater treatment.

In this work, the TiO2/Mn3O4/Fe3O4 nanocomposite was successful developed for enrichment of lead ions by using combined cloud point‐solid phase extraction. Lead ions were then determined by GF‐AAS spectroscopy. The nanocomposite was characterized by SEM, EDX, and XRD techniques. The result showed that the nanocomposite is composed of relatively uniform granules with particle size distribution in the range of 40÷80nm. The combined cloud point‐solid phase extraction procedure was optimized for lead ions with the optimal parameters as the absorbent dosage of 10 mg, the extraction time of 40 min, 10 mL of 10 % Triton X‐100, 1 mL of 1M NaCl in neutral media at 80°C. The parameters for the elution of Pb2+ ions such as concentration, volume, and the time of elution were also studied. The results showed that the elution efficiency of Pb2+ ions reached 97.0 % using 5 mL of HNO3 1M with continuous shaking for 5 minutes. Under optimized conditions, the linear range was 0.5÷80.0 μg/L of Pb2+ ions (r2 = 0.998) with a detection limit of 0.27 μg/L. The relative standard deviation was calculated to be 5.61 % and the recovery efficiency of the method was about 96.30 %. The studied method was applied for the determination of lead content in water samples.
