“…Following publication of this fascicle (Brotero, 1801), Brotero reworked the text published in it and expanded it into a new, two‐volume work; the title Phytographia Lusitaniae selectior was retained for the two volumes, which were published later. The publication dates of these two volumes were generally accepted in taxonomic literature (Stafleu & Cowan, 1976: 359; Tutin & al., 1980: 377) and in biographical works on Brotero (Colmeiro, 1858; Luisier, 1944; Castel‐Branco, 2007) as having been 1816 (volume 1) and 1827 (volume 2).
