“…The interdependance between the degree of arrestance and probing, on the one hand, and the nutritional condition of S. grunurius (particularly of females), on the other hand, suggests the existence of a causative connection between phagostimulation and a demand for food consumption. A similar relationship between dietary fat deficiency and intense phagostimulation by oleic or linoleic acid was demonstrated to occur in female Dermestes muculutus (LEVINSON et al 1980). Since wheat extract contains lipid constituents providing nutritional value to several insect species (LEVINSON 1976) including Sitophilus grunarius and S. oryzue (BAKER and MABIE 1973;BAKER 1973), some wheat lipids may have a dual function for granary weevils by acting as phagostimulants as well as nutrients.…”

“…Some of the above water soluble wheat components are both phagostimulants and nutrients for several species of storage insects (LEVINSON and LEVIN-SON 1978) like potassium and sodium salts for larvae of Anthrenus fluvipes (BAKER and SCHWALBE 1975), saccharose, maltose, glucose and fructose for larvae of Plodiu interpunctellu (BAKER and MABIE 1973) as well as amylopectin and dextrin for adult Sitophilus o y z u e (CHIPPENDALE 1972). Among the wheat lipids, certain triglycerides were found to be aggregants for adults of Tribolium confusum, T. custuneum (TAMAKI et al 1971 ;STARRAT and LOSCHIAVO 1972), (NAWROT and CZAPLICKY 1978) and for larvae of Sitotrogu cerealella (CHIPPENDALE and MANN 1972), while several long-chain, saturated and unsaturated, fatty acids are phagostimulants for Dermestes muculutus (COHEN and LEVINSON 1974;LEVINSON et al 1980) and, in combination with saccharose, for Plodiu interpunctellu (BAKER and MABIE 1973).…”

“…471 First, the swift timeline under which elections occurred favored the preexisting political groups, primarily the Muslim Brotherhood, who have the financial and organizational capability to quickly organize election campaigns. 472 Although the military postponed the initial June date for the parliamentary elections, the parliamentary elections took place in staggered rounds beginning in November 2011, 473 a relatively short timetable for new political parties to form, organize, raise funds, and campaign. The military anticipated that "the principal beneficiaries of quick elections"-i.e., the pre-existing political groups-"[would] oppose a major constitutional overhaul" 474 and protect the Mubarak-era political structures that had benefited the military's interests.…”
