FEED TIME AND QUANTITY MANAGEMENT IN INCREASE GROWTH RATE AND SURVIVAL RATE OF SNAKEHEAD FISH FARMING, Channa striata (Bloch, 1793)

Abstract: The nature of cannibalism in snakehead fish (Channa stiata) causes high mortality in snakehead fish farming. Good and proper management is needed to minimize its cannibalism. The aims of this research were intended to find out the feeding frequency and feeding rate in growth performance and survival rate of snakehead fish seed. This research was conducted with Factorial Completely Randomized Design (FCRD), which consisted of 2 factors, feeding rate and feeding frequency each with triplicates. The treat… Show more

“…Low water needs increase feed consumption (FC), the rise of FC directly affects growth, the food eaten will be metabolized, and the main nutrient content is absorbed by fish to be stored as growth energy. The high growth of fish will be achieved if the stored energy is greater than the energy used for body activities (37,38). In addition, the quality of the feed given in this study was classified as very good, thereby reducing FCR and increasing growth.…”
