Exhaustion of fossil fuel resources, shrinking forest areas, with accompanying deterioration of their quality and striving (also of the society) to make forests perform their ecological function, with simultaneous development and propagation of the biomass conversion technologies—all of this necessitates research of forest biomass diversification. It is a consequence of the fact that its properties and composition depend not only on the genus but also on the plant organ, and they each time determine its usability as a raw biomaterial in a wide range of thermal, physical, or chemical conversion processes. This study reviewed and analysed selected qualitative and quantitative features of forest dendromass, taking into account the genus and a plant organ/morphological part, followed by a group of trees (coniferous and deciduous) and without the latter differentiation. The study involved an analysis of data covering 15 selected qualitative-quantitative features of forest dendromass within three main and nine additional plant organs/morphological parts and 21 genera (5 coniferous and 16 deciduous) typical of the temperate climate.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) represents a significant impetus for sustainable economic growth and development. From the context of the importance that FDI carries as the transfer of knowledge, experience, employment growth and development of human capital, its attraction definitely requires a proper legal basis, namely, the implementation of the law and the proper functioning of judiciary. The main aim of this study is to elaborate the legislation on foreign direct investment in Kosovo and to analyse FDI in Kosovo over the years. This study is based on local literature, specifically the interpretation of the current law on FDI in Kosovo and international literature to examine the effects of legislation on a business climate. This study is descriptive, comparative and analytical, based mainly on secondary data provided by the World Bank indicators on FDI in Kosovo over the years. Kosovo as a young, post-war state has drafted a number of reforms in the economic field and in the field of law enforcement and judiciary, but undoubtedly the current law governing strategic investments has room for improvement, thus, must be enforced in order for investors to feel safe while operating in Kosovo. This study also concludes that Kosovo is attractive for foreign investors due to the increasing rate of GDP, labour market conditions, high rate of degree holders complying with labour market requirements. The study goes further with recommendations on supplementing the current law versus the European FDI legislation. The major implication of the study is the comparative analysis of Kosovo’s law in regard to the EU Law on FDI.

There is unbridled competition among countries to attract foreign direct investments (Sethi et al., 2003). Developing countries are continuously revising their legal framework and policies to prevail in such a dynamic environment. The legal framework for foreign direct investment (FDI) in Kosovo since the establishment of temporary institutions until today has undergone constant changes and amendments to persuade foreign investors for investment purposes. The efforts to address issues raised by investors have played a pivotal role by shaping the legal environment in such ways in order to lure foreign investors. The main purpose of this study is to assess the legal framework in Kosovo by comparing the post-war and post-independence periods. This study adapts qualitative methodology and uses secondary data. The research concludes that although the legal changes were aimed at attracting foreign investors, this goal is still not being realized successfully. The findings of this research are very relevant because they can greatly contribute to other countries by learning the right lessons from Kosovo’s experience that can be used for other emerging markets.
