The ubiquitous presence of emerging contaminants in the environment is an issue of great concern. Notably, for some of them, no established regulation exists. Benzophenones are listed as emerging contaminants, which have been identified in the environment as well as in human fluids, such as urine, placenta, and breast milk. Their accumulation and stability in the environment, combined with the revealed adverse effects on ecosystems including endocrine, reproductive, and other disorders, have triggered significant interest for research. Benzophenones should be extracted from environmental samples and determined for environmental-monitoring purposes to assess their presence and possible dangers. Numerous sample preparation methods for benzophenones in environmental matrices and industrial effluents have been proposed and their detection in more complex matrices, such as fish and sludges, has also been reported. These methods range from classical to more state-of-the-art methods, such as solid-phase extraction, dispersive SPE, LLE, SBSE, etc., and the analysis is mostly completed with liquid chromatography, using several detection modes. This review critically outlines sample preparation methods that have been proposed to date, for the extraction of benzophenones from simple and complex environmental matrices and for cleaning up sample extracts to eliminate potential interfering components that coexist therein. Moreover, it provides a brief overview of their occurrence, fate, and toxicity.

Pollutants or novel entities are the atoms, molecules, and particles that come up with as pollution. This paper discusses the several ways that pollutants can enter the environment, both naturally and via human activity. There exist several kinds of pollutant which includes primary pollutant, secondary pollutant, water pollutants, anthropogenic contaminants, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products contaminants, pollutants from agricultural products, contaminants from narcotics and other drugs, personal care products, contaminants from the food industry and microplastics are present just in the environment possess severe dangers to human health and aquatic creatures. Our study aims to demonstrate the imperative need to detect substances that could pose a concern to receptors from an analytical standpoint, new techniques must be developed. Additionally, it is necessary to construct a more thorough environmental risk assessment. To this objective, chemical and biological analyses have to be coupled to get a better evaluation of the harm that Emerging contaminants does to the environment.

Water pollutants, i.e., heavy metal ions, pesticides, dyes, and pigments, are contaminating our aquatic environment and generating serious health damage for the human body. Adsorption using ion-exchange resin materials is one of the versatile techniques for water treatment due to its simple and low-cost process. However, when the separation and pre-concentration of the water pollutants only rely on the ion-exchange mechanism, selective removal of water pollutants cannot be easily achieved. In contrast, a supramolecular organic compound named calixarene offers a promising technology for selective ion and molecular discrimination due to strict host-guest interactions. We reviewed the up-to-date research of supramolecular ionexchange resins based on calixarene derivatives for pollutant removal from aquatic environmental samples. There are three techniques to prepare the supramolecular ion-exchange resins based on calixarene derivatives: (1) impregnation of calixarene on the commercially available resins, (2) polymerization of calixarene, and (3) crosslink-reaction of the calixarene derivatives. The description, advantages, and disadvantages of each technique are discussed. By using these techniques, hundreds of ion-exchange resin materials have been successfully prepared and they showed a remarkable capability and selectivity for heavy metal ions, pesticides, dyes, and pigments removal.
