Fast dew-point hygrometer for laryngolgy applications

Abstract: A new fast semiconductor dew point hygrometer for laryngological applications is presented in the report. The hygrometer construction based on integrated in the single semiconductor sensor structure the impedance dew detector, the thermoresistor and the heater is described in the paper. The experimental results of the dew point hygrometer tests in laryngological measurements (during patient respiration cycle) are shown and discussed in the report.

“…The first proposed change will effect the decrease of the mirror mass (decreasing both heat capacity and heat resistance of the mirror). The second improvement can be gained by changing the principle of mirror temperature control: in spite of careful control of a cooling device with poor efficiency (Peltier element) it is much better to inject heat into the permanently overcooled mirror [5,6]. That method of mirror surface temperature control is much faster than that in the conventional hygrometer but an extra resistor as a heater must be installed close to the mirror surface [4][5][6].…”

That method of mirror surface temperature control is much faster than that in the conventional hygrometer but an extra resistor as a heater must be installed close to the mirror surface [4][5][6]. The dew point hygrometer based on a described idea is usually equipped with a microprocessor (figure 2) for simultaneously controlling the cooling and heating of the detector surface, based on a dedicated algorithm especially worked out for that application.…”
