The vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is a method through which Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have become important for the benefit of daily life. Real-time detection of all forms of attacks, including hybrid DoS attacks in IEEE 802.11p, has become an urgent issue for VANET. This is due to sporadic real-time exchange of safety and road emergency message delivery in VANET. Sporadic communication in VANET has the tendency to generate an enormous amount of messages. This leads to overutilization of the road side unit (RSU) or the central processing unit (CPU) for computation. Therefore, efficient storage and intelligent VANET infrastructure architecture (VIA), which includes trustworthiness, are required. Vehicular Cloud and Fog Computing (VFC) play an important role in efficient storage, computation, and communication needs for VANET. This research utilizes VFC integration with hybrid optimization algorithms (OAs), which also possess swarm intelligence, including Cuckoo/CSA Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) and Firefly/Genetic Algorithm (GA), to provide real-time detection of DoS attacks in IEEE 802.11p, using VFC for a secure intelligent vehicular network. Vehicles move ar a certain speed and the data is transmitted at 30 Mbps. Firefly Feed forward back propagation neural network (FFBPNN) is used as a classifier to distinguish between the attacked vehicles and the genuine vehicles. The proposed scheme is compared with Cuckoo/CSA ABC and Firefly GA by considering jitter, throughput, and prediction accuracy.

Wireless network security has received tremendous attention due to the vulnerabilities exposed in the open communication medium. The most common wireless Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol is IEEE 802.11, which assumes all the nodes in the network are cooperative. However, nodes may purposefully misbehave in order to disrupt network performance, obtain extra bandwidth and conserve resources. These MAC layer misbehaviours can lead to Denial of Service (DoS) attacks which can disrupt the network operation. There is a lack of comprehensive analysis of MAC layer misbehaviour driven DoS attacks for the IEEE 802.11 protocol in MANETs. This research studied possible MAC layer DoS attack strategies that are driven by the MAC layer malicious/selfish nodes on IEEE 802.11 protocol. Such DoS attacks could caused by malicious and selfish nodes by violating their backoff timers associated with the MAC protocol. Therefore, these attacks are experimentally analysed and evaluated the impact on the network performance and stability in MANETs. The simulation results show that introducing DoS attacks at MAC layer could significantly affect the network throughput and data packet collision rate. This paper concludes that DoS attacks with selfish/malicious intend can obtain at least 50% larger throughput by denying wellbehaved nodes to obtain deserved throughput, also DoS attacks with the intend of complete destruction which allow only less than 5% throughput for well-behaved nodes which eventually led to shut-down of the network.Index Terms-Wireless Network Security, IEEE 802.11, Medium Access Control, Denial of Service, MAC Layer Misbehaviours 978-1-4799-5344-8/15/$31.00 ©2015 IEEE

In recent years, the scientific community has acquired a fair amount of recognition on Mobile Adhoc Networks (MANETs). These devices are used in wide range of application scenarios due to its compact size, affordable devices consumed scarce energy and finite computing resources .These application includes biomedical health monitoring, environmental monitoring and target tracking where node localization is essentially another system parameter. Localization of nodes is mandatory in order to detail the emergence of events, routing and to respond queries regarding network coverage, oblige group enquiring of sensors. In this paper, a competent protocol is proposed that consumes less energy of nodes in MANET which is based on ANFIS residual threshold energy. The threshold value is determined based on the fuzzy membership functions. Primarily the neighborhood nodes of source are formulated using two factors: enclosed region and relaying region. The neighbor nodes deliberated by those factors adopt the maximum threshold value initiated using ANFIS. The node with maximum values of threshold and distance is preferred as the next hop for the transaction. The experimental outcome interprets that our protocol can prominently diminish the overall energy consumption considering for all environments.
