India is an agriculture based developing country. Information dissemination to the knowledge intensive agriculture sector is upgraded by mobile-enabled information services and rapid growth of mobile telephony. It bridge the gap between the availability of agricultural input and delivery of agricultural outputs and agriculture infrastructure. Mobile computing, cloud computing, machine learning and soft computing are the immerging techniques which are being used in almost all fields of research. Apart from this, they are also useful in our day-to-day activities such as education, medical and agriculture. This paper explores how Android Apps of agricultural services have impacted the farmers in their farming activities.

ABSTRACT. Process mechanization has contributed significantly to the increase of agricultural productivity, although the correct selection of machines must take into account a set of technical, administrative and economic parameters. Mathematical modeling of the soil and traction device interaction allows researchers and designers to analyze problems associated to traction performance in tractors and to optimize operational parameters. Mobile devices have currently dominated the technological market. Smartphones and tablets feature mobility and great processing capacity and these characteristics have favored the development and the insertion of applications in many fields. Current research developed an application to simulate the traction capacity of agricultural tractors with front wheel assist. The application was developed with Android platform, version 2.3 'Gingerbread'. The application is intuitive and easy to operate, besides showing great flexibility. It may be used in schools and in research to optimize agricultural operations. Concordance between simulated and observed results, obtained from validation process, demonstrated the prediction capacity of the traction efficiency of agricultural tractors. Further, it has been verified that input parameters associated to surface conditions are fundamental for the simulation of traction efficiency.Keywords: modeling, mechanization, mobile technology.Simtrac -um aplicativo para a simulação da eficiência de tração de tratores agrícolas com tração dianteira auxiliar RESUMO. A mecanização de processos tem contribuído significativamente para o aumento da produtividade agrícola. A correta seleção de máquinas deve considerar um conjunto de parâmetros de natureza técnica, administrativa e econômica. Modelagem matemática da interação solo e dispositivo tração possibilita a pesquisadores e projetistas analisar problemas associados ao desempenho de tração de tratores e otimizar parâmetros operacionais. Atualmente, os dispositivos móveis têm dominado o mercado de tecnologia. Celulares inteligentes (smartphones) e tablets possuem características como mobilidade e grande capacidade de processamento, o que têm favorecido o desenvolvimento e a inserção no mercado de aplicativos destinados a diversas áreas. Este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de desenvolver um aplicativo para simular a capacidade de tração de tratores agrícolas com tração dianteira auxiliar. Para o desenvolvimento dos aplicativos, empregou-se a plataforma Android versão 2.3 'Gingerbread'. O aplicativo desenvolvido apresentou grande flexibilidade, sendo intuitivo e de fácil operação, podendo ser empregado para otimização da execução de operações agrícolas, para pesquisa e educação. A boa concordância entre os resultados observados e simulados, no processo de validação, demonstrou a capacidade de predição da eficiência de tração de tratores agrícolas. Despite impressive increase in global grain production since 1960s, there are 795 million food‐insecure and ~2 billion people prone to malnutrition. Further, global population of 7.4 billion in 2016 is projected to increase to 9.7 billion by 2050, with almost all increase occurring in developing countries. Thus, it is recommended that global food production be increased by 60 to 70% between 2005 and 2050. Global crop production increased threefold between 1965 and 2015 with a net increase of only 67 million ha (Mha) of cropland area. Nonetheless, agronomic yield of food staples can still be tripled or quadrupled in Sub‐Saharan Africa (SSA), South Asia (SA), and the Caribbean by a widespread adoption of site‐specific best management practices of sustainable intensification (SI). Rather than expanding the area under cropland, agriculturally marginal and degraded soils can be set aside for nature conservancy. The global average cereal yield of 3.27 Mg ha−1 in 2005 can be increased to 5 Mg ha−1 by 2050, 6 Mg ha−1 by 2080 and 7 Mg ha−1 by 2100 through SI of agroecosystems in SSA, SA and elsewhere. The strategy of “producing more from less” necessitates restoration of soil health and increasing soil organic carbon (SOC) concentration to be more than 1.5–2.0% in the rootzone. The goal of SOC sequestration is in accord with the “4 per Thousand” initiative proposed at COP21 in 2015. Therefore, global food demands can be met despite the decreasing trends in the per capita cropland area by 2050 – 0.17 ha in the world and 0.15 ha in developing countries. While enhancing productivity by SI, the strategy is to simultaneously reduce food waste, increase access and distribution of food, and promote plant‐based diet. The goal is to reconcile high production with better environmental quality, develop urban agriculture (aquaponics, aeroponics, and vertical farms), promote nutrition‐sensitive farming, and restore degraded soils. Sustainable intensification of agroecosystems can produce enough food grains to feed one person for a year on 0.045 ha of arable land.
