Far-End Crosstalk Mitigation for Future Wireline Networks Beyond G.mgfast: A Survey and an Outlook

Abstract: With the escalating demand for high speed, high reliability, low latency, low cost and ubiquitous connectivity, the telecommunications industry is entering a new era where the ultimate optimality of the current wireline-wireless access network has to be achieved. Regarding the current wireline network paradigm, dominated by the copper-based digital subscriber lines (DSL) technology, multi-Gigabit data rate is the ambitious design objective at the customer end for the forthcoming ITU-T G.mgfast standard. In ord… Show more

“…It consists in copying L cp samples from the end of the DMT symbol to its beginning (creating a prefix), before sending the time-domain samples to the digital-to-analog chip. Another important benefit of using the cyclic prefix is to avoid inter-carrier interference (ICI) between tones of the same DMT symbol, thus, ensuring tone orthogonality [9], [29], [30]. Unfortunately, the cyclic prefix adds some overhead to the system, which, in turn, must be calculated.…”

“…The isolation between the transceiver antennas has become one of the key factors, which poses limitations on the FMCW SAR performance. The signal leakage between the receiving and transmitting antennas is caused by many aspects, in which, the surface-wave crosstalk is one of the important electromagnetic leaking ways, especially in the millimeter-wave frequency band [23]. The traditional simple solution addresses such issues by increasing the distance between two transceiver antennas.…”

“…Nonlinear TPC schemes have been shown to provide better performance than linear schemes, but at the cost of exponentially escalating complexity [1], [2] versus the number of antennas. In this treatise we conceive a vector perturbation precoder (VPP), which transforms the original TPC design problem of maximizing the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) into the closest vector problem (CVP).…”
