Ascoli et al [9] reported mesothelioma in three sisters and a male cousin, in addition to other cancers within the family (laryngeal cancer in a brother, and lung cancer in the mother, an aunt, uncle, and cousin).…”

“…Lynch et al [6] initially suggested the role of genetics in the predisposition to or the histological characteristics of mesothelioma, as did Martensson et al [7], who reported mesothelioma in two pairs of siblings. Hammar et al reported a father and son who both died from a peritoneal mesothelioma of identical histological type eleven years apart [8]. Quantitative asbestos analysis of the son's lung tissue showed numbers of asbestos bodies well below the lower limits seen in the general urban population with no occupational exposure to asbestos.…”
