Factors influencing thermal, mechanical, optical, and adhesive properties of segmented poly(imide siloxane) copolymers films

Abstract: Poly(imide siloxane), block and blend copolymer, were synthesized using different methods to explore the influence of siloxane chains. The flexible siloxane chains enrichment on surface of copolymer, enhance hydrophobic and adhesive with copper foil. It also improves light transmittance of polyimide film in the visible light region. The effect of different preparation methods on the aggregation in polymers and on polymer properties, especially adhesion and water absorptivity, are also discussed. The imidizatio… Show more

“…X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the polymers are shown in Figure S6. The first peak with a 2θ value positioned at 12.92–13.40° indicates the average distance between the PSI chains and reflects the internal free volume of the polymer . Domain spacing of PSI-linear, PSI-1, PSI-2, PSI-3, PSI-4, and PSI-5 derived from the diffraction patterns ( D XRD ) are 6.60, 6.61, 6.79, 6.84, 6.85, and 6.82 Å, respectively (summarized in Table ).…”

“…For several decades, significant attention has been paid to PIs modified by siloxane oligomeric or polymeric moieties in the formation of poly(imidesiloxane)s (PISs). [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14] For their preparation, the two-stage procedure can also be used. In the first step, a siloxane with terminal amino groups reacts with a dianhydride in a suitable (mixed) solvent (e.g., N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone or Nmethyl-2-pyrrolidone/tetrahydrofuran [THF] mixture), and the resulting intermediate, poly(amide-siloxane) acid (PASA), is consequently thermally imidized in the solid state to the final PIS.…”

“…[7][8][9] Compared to PIs, PISs, and coPISs predominantly show reduced water sorption and dielectric constant (relative permittivity) and increased solubility, elasticity, and gas permeability. [10][11][12][13][14] Some properties can also be enhanced by the use of fluorine-containing monomers, for example, 4,4 0 -(hexafluoroisopropylidene) diphthalic anhydride. [15][16][17] The final properties of the products (PISs and coPISs) are generally dependent upon the ratio of the mediumpolar polyimide and nearly nonpolar siloxane content.…”
