“…By the end of a typical lens wearing day, it is not difficult to see that an average lens wearer will easily surpass the threshold for what is considered to be a clinically significant change for comfort 8 . Age was not predictive for any of the ratings, but comfort and dryness were lower in females than in males, which is consistent with previous work 9,10 . Lens factors such as modulus, material and replacement frequency did not impact comfort but did affect the other ratings.…”

The paper shows that even if a lens design were optimised for one attribute, for example, vision, it could negatively impact another factor.…”

“…This study first developed a translation of the CLDEQ-8 into Italian and then validated it through a multicentre cross-sectional study. Validated translations of this questionnaire are important because it has been demonstrated that unvalidated versions can affect the ability of the questionnaire to identify individuals with increased symptoms associated with soft CL wear [23]. The characteristics of the cohort of Italian responders in terms of gender (70% females) were found comparable to the data reported for the validation of the same questionnaire in other studies including those for other languages, [11,12,24], and also comparable to the responders involved in several Italian surveys on CL wearers.…”

“…It consists of eight questions that assess symptoms such as dryness, burning, and discomfort. The questionnaire also includes a visual analogue scale (VAS) to rate the severity of symptoms [15]. The CLDEQ-8 questionnaire is a quick and easy tool that can be used to evaluate dry eye symptoms in contact lens wearers.…”
