Factor analysis, reliability and validity of a measurement model for the intent of alcohol consumption among ecuadorian teenagers

Abstract: Objective. Confirm the bifactorial structure, reliability and validity of the Modelo de Medición de Intención al consumo de Alcohol (MMICA), in a sample of Ecuadorian adolescents. Method. Instrumental study with factor analysis, reliability and validity (construct and criterion) of the MMICA among risky and not risky consumers. The sample was 480 students (52.3% men), between 12 to 19 years (M= 14.8, SD= 1.5), from three different educational centres (67.9% public) of Ambato and Pelileo cities, Ecuador… Show more

“…The established cut-off points are that the χ 2 is not significant (p > .05), the CFI and TLI are greater than .9, and the SRMR and RMSEA are less than .08. Additionally, in the case of item saturation (λ), they are expected to be greater than .50 (Brown, 2015;Byrne, 2008;Moreta-Herrera et al, 2020;Mueller & Hancock, 2018;Wolf et al, 2013). Attached to this analysis, the ME by gender is studied with the AFC-MG with WLSMV estimation (see Table 2) to know the presence or not of invariance of the factorial model by segmenting the sample into groups from a referential variable (gender).…”

“…In order to adequately diagnose and employ corrective individual and group treatment, it is important to undertake exploratory research to identify the psychological attributes related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Likewise, research to develop, adapt and validate instruments that can measure these attributes is necessary ( Jonason et al, 2020 ; Li, 2016 ; Moreta-Herrera et al, 2020 ; Mueller & Hancock, 2018 ).…”
