Facile Synthesis of the Dual Pesticide-Loaded Metal–Organic Framework Hybrid for pH-Responsive Release

Abstract: Controlled release formulations, used for the long-term preservation of pesticides, make agricultural development more precise, efficient, and safe. However, facile synthesis and high utilization of these formulations remain challenging. In this work, a polydopamine and metal−organic framework (MOF) hybrid was fabricated by a facile synthesis strategy for the controlled delivery of insecticide thiacloprid (THIA) and herbicide 2,4-D. The pesticides exhibited environment-responsive release behaviors. After 24 h,… Show more

“…Currently, organometallic approaches have also been applied in formulations, especially in recent years since the discovery of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). These materials are synthesized with zinc [144][145][146], iron [147][148][149], or gadolinium [150] as metal cores, and they display interesting properties in terms of their stability, delivery, and pH-responsiveness. Wang et al tested 2,4-D encapsulated in Fe-MOFs in vitro against Cichorium intybus L. and found improved growth inhibition in comparison with that of the free herbicide.…”
