Facile synthesis, characterization of various polymer immobilized on magnetite nanoparticles applying the coprecipitation method

Abstract: In this study, systematic examination of the effect of different polymer types (functional groups) on the one-step synthesis of polymer immobilized magnetite nanoparticle via the modified coprecipitation method was carried out. By using five different polymers with different functional groups of polyacrylic acid (PAA), polyacrylamide (PAM), polyethylene glycol (PEG), polyethylene imine (PEI), and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), the effect of the polymer difference on magnetite nanoparticle formation, polymer immobili… Show more

“…[26] KC has been reported to control the co-precipitation of Fe(III)/Fe(II) salt in aqueous medium and enable the formation of FeNPs. [27] KC also strongly promotes photocatalytic degradation because of the presence of sulfonic functionality in its structure. [26] Thus, in the present work, these KC and FeNP-loaded poly(ANco-NVP) copolymer nanocomposite gels were synthesized and used for column adsorption and catalytic degradation of TCs.…”

“…The other PEG characteristic bands at 1470 cm −1 and 1280 cm −1 are attributed to -CH 2 bending. The 950 cm −1 band results from out-of-plane -CH bending [ 49 , 50 , 57 ].…”

“…The synthesis procedure of the hydrogel with preferable properties was denoted based on the collected data. The coprecipitation method was used to obtain MIONs [ 47 , 48 , 49 , 50 ], which were thoroughly studied using transmission electron microscope (TEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements; optimal synthesis and coating conditions were also defined. The magnetic properties of the nanoparticles were assessed using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), as well as their ability to induce hyperthermia.…”

“…Polymers are utilized in various biomedical applications because of their biomimetic properties and multi-functionality and are widely used for the coverage of MNPs [ 74 , 75 ]. Most polymers have various reactive groups in their structures, such as hydroxyl-, carboxyl-, and amino-groups, which could be used for the further bioconjugation of macromolecules [ 76 ]. Polymers could be chemically (covalent bonds) or physically (Van der Waals interaction) bound to the surface of synthesized MNPs.…”
