Facile Synthesis and Characterization of CdO‐ZnO Nanocomposite for Gas Sensor

Abstract: The pure CdO, pure ZnO, and CdO‐ZnO composite films are successfully prepared by simple chemical bath deposition (CBD) method. XRD reveals a polycrystalline nature of CdO‐ZnO nanocomposite. The SEM micrograph depicts porous web network like morphology of CdO‐ZnO nanocomposite and EDX shows good agreement of elements. CdO‐ZnO nanocomposite shows maximum response of 29.11% under optimum operating temperature of 275˚C at 24 ppm ethanol gas concentration.

“…This high intensity was observed due to the recombination of photoexcited carriers inside the nanocrystallites. [ 23 ] Besides this, the porosity values determine the change direction: lower porosity layers show redshift, while a blue shift is observed in higher porosity samples. [ 24 ] Thus, more annealed temperature helps to oxidize the CaFe 2 O 4 infiltration does not cause PL spectral change, suggesting a slight porosity adjustment.…”

“…They show enormous applications in catalysis, drug delivery, toxicological, sensors, and photocatalysis. [1][2][3][4][5] These materials have superior chemical stability and thus are often used in place of sulfide materials. [6,7] Among oxide materials, spinels are one of the good host materials for low voltage cathodoluminesce (CL) phosphor, microwave absorption property, thin film electroluminescent displays, gas sensing, and vacuum fluorescent display (VFD).…”

“…properties of ZnO thin lms [9]. In production of ZnO thin lms, there are a lot of obtained methods such as evaporation [10], sputtering [11], pulsed laser deposition [12], sol-gel [13] and chemical bath deposition [14]. Among these methods, the most preferred one is sol-gel which has simple stages of (i) exhausting, (ii) excess deposit processing, and (iii) drying, provides good control over the chemical composition with low temperature, low cost and low energy consumption [15].…”
