Facile Synthesis and Catalytic Properties of Nickel-Based Mixed-Metal Oxides with Mesopore Networks from a Novel Hybrid Composite Precursor

Abstract: Facile synthesis of high-surface-area nickel-based mixed-metal oxides with interconnected mesopore networks through a novel layered double hydroxide/carbon (LDH/C) hybrid composite precursor route is successfully established. The starting LDH/C composite with interwoven framework structure is assembled by the crystallization of Ni/Al layered double hydroxide simultaneously accompanied by the carbonization of glucose under mild hydrothermal conditions, and subsequently, the formed composite is thermally decompo… Show more

“…The synthesis of hydrotalcite (LDH) was carried out in a procedure similar to that reported previously . An aqueous solution of Mg(NO 3 ) 2 ⋅6 H 2 O and Al(NO 3 ) 3 ⋅9 H 2 O ([Mg 2+ ]=0.3 m , [Al 3+ ]=0.1 m ) and a mixed alkali solution of NaOH and Na 2 CO 3 ([OH − ]=1.6(Al 3+ +Mg 2+ ), CO 3 2− =2[Al 3+ ]) were rapidly mixed under high‐speed stirring within several tens of seconds.…”

“…In addition, a novel Ni/Al-LDH/carbon (LDH/C) hybrid composite has also been used as catalyst precursor for the catalytic growth of CNTs [59]. The LDH/C composite with interwoven structure was prepared by the crystallization of Ni/Al-LDH simultaneously accompanied by the carbonization of glucose under mild hydrothermal conditions.…”

“…In particular, Ni‐ and Al‐based spinels are potential catalysts in reduction reactions 15. In the past, nickel–aluminum spinel oxides have been prepared by diverse synthetic routes through co‐precipitation to layered double hydroxides16 or sol–gel17 techniques. Tai and Guo have synthesized hexagonal nickel–aluminum oxide by the homogeneous precipitation method 18.…”
