Facile preparation of nanostructured copper-coated carbon microelectrodes for amperometric sensing of carbohydrates

Abstract: We report a novel method for fabricating nanostructured coppercoated carbon cylindrical fiber microelectrodes and show the high efficiency of these electrodes in carbohydrate non-enzymatic and label-free amperometric sensing in both batch and flow-detection arrangements. † Electronic supplementary information (ESI) available: Chemical and reagents; carbon ber microelectrode fabrication; modication of carbon ber microelectrode with copper; amperometric detector layout; scanning electron microscopy of CFMEs a… Show more

“…The EDAX analysis is carried out for the detection of elemental compositions present in the TMPGÀ Au NPs where the peaks at the position 2.0 and 9.6 ( Figure 7) confirm the presence of Au with 26.40 weight % and the peak at 0.3 corresponds to carbon with 31.67 weight %. [32,33] The TMPGÀ Au NPs formation is also confirmed from XPS spectrum, as shown in Figure 8 a. The two sharp peaks of Au 4f 5/2 and Au 4f 7/2 (Figure 8 a) with the binding energy 87.87 eV and 84.79 eV respectively, suggesting the presence of Au (I).…”
