Fabrication of the planar-type CO2 gas sensor using an evaporated Li3PO4 film and its sensing characteristics

Abstract: The CO 2 gas sensor, based on the principle of electro-chemistry, was fabricated using the solid-electrolyte Li 3 PO 4 film formed by a thermal evaporator and its sensing performances were studied. Thermal evaporated film was prepared with power of 10A, a working pressure of 10 -6 mTorr and thickness of 1.2 µm. Then, it was annealed at 800 o C for 2h in air. Li 2 TiO 3 +TiO 2 and Li 2 CO 3 film were prepared using a screen printing method as the reference and the sensing electrode, respectively. Li 3 PO 4 film… Show more

“…Among these researches, the sensors with a lithium ion transporting solid electrolyte and two electrodes (a sensing electrode and a reference electrode) have been paid much attention for their good sensing performances [8][9][10]. CO 2 sensors based on bulk-type or film-type Li 3 PO 4 were reported [11][12][13][14][15][16]. The film-type sensor can be miniaturized for low power consumption as well as low cost applications.…”

“…The lithium phosphate film doped with nitrogen is the most widely used electrolyte membrane in solidstate thin film lithium battery. Lithium phosphate has also been reported as sensors to CO 2 gases [11][12][13][14]. Among them, Kim's group [14] studied its electro-chemical sensing performances to CO 2 gas based on the Li 3 PO 4 film prepared by a thermal evaporation.…”
