Fabrication of cost-effective double layers composite for efficient sound-absorbing based on sustainable and flame-retardant jute fabrics

Abstract: Noise pollution is rapidly increasing, posing a health risk, particularly in the low frequency range. Therefore, the development of cost-effective, environmentally friendly and efficient audible sound absorbing materials is a necessary and crucial process. To this end, smart multilayer sound absorber has been developed based on micro-perforated panels and Jute fabrics as renewable and eco-friendly sound-absorbing material. Different perforation shapes have been fabricated and used for micro-perforated panels a… Show more

“…A porous structure and high acoustic performance are characteristics of NFs. Accidental sound wave exposure to porous material enables the air to vibrate and change into different energy forms within the pores [6]. The NFs are favourable to the environment.…”

“…The acoustic performance of fibrous material is remarkably affected by its thickness and air gap. Due to biobased nature, biogradability of (NFs) and positive interactions with other fibrous materials, (NFs) are arising as the closer descent of sustainable sound AMs [13][14][15]. Santoni et al [16] investigated how the physical properties and SAC of hemp fibrous materials were affected by sweep, alkaline handling, wider age combing, and fine age combing.…”

“…2 Especially in the low frequency range, noise pollution poses a health risk. 3 The main sources of noise are industrial noise, traffic noise, and community noise, of which traffic noise affects more than other sources. 4 In urban areas, traffic-related noise pollution accounts for two-thirds of total noise pollution.…”

“…This mechanism’s shielding safeguards both humans and technology. It is important to carefully design textiles suitable to mitigate external hazards [ 8 , 9 ]. Shield-textile structures should be designed to maximize comfort, wearability, breathability, and durability as extra features for clothing.…”
