Fabrication of COF-MOF Composite Membranes and Their Highly Selective Separation of H2/CO2

Abstract: The search for new types of membrane materials has been of continuous interest in both academia and industry, given their importance in a plethora of applications, particularly for energy-efficient separation technology. In this contribution, we demonstrate for the first time that a metal-organic framework (MOF) can be grown on the covalent-organic framework (COF) membrane to fabricate COF-MOF composite membranes. The resultant COF-MOF composite membranes demonstrate higher separation selectivity of H2/CO2 gas… Show more

“…Integration of MOF with other functional materials, such as other types of MOFs, [200][201][202] metal oxides, [203,204] metal NPs, [205][206][207] polyoxometalates, [208,209] covalent-organic frameworks (COFs), [210][211][212] endows the resultant MOF-based composites with improved physical and chemical properties as well as new functions. [213] Especially, previously reported LD MOF-based composites normally exhibited enhanced performances, which are arised from the successful combination of advantages of both LD MOFs and other functional materials.…”

“…[7] Researchers have recently developed ac lass of crystalline porous polymers known as covalent-organic frameworks (COFs), [8] which can be used as components in porous composites. For example,Fu et al recently developed an ew class of membranes by interfacing aM OF (Zn(bdc) 2 (dabco) or ZIF-8) layer on top of aCOF (COF-300) layer. [9] Additionally,v arious groups have developed as eries of core-shell MOF/COF composites that exhibit remarkable photocatalytic properties,m ainly in H 2 evolution. “…Zahlreiche Untersuchungen zur Aufnahme von H 2 , [283,284] CH 4 ,NH 3 [285] und CO 2 [262,286] wurden bereits durchgeführt. [290] Hybridmembranen aus COFs und MOFs [292] oder Polymeren [293] zeigten hohe Trennschärfen für Gemische aus CO 2 und anderen Gasen.
