Fabrication of cellulose membrane with “imprinted morphology” and low crystallinity from spherulitic [Bmim]Cl

Abstract: In the present study, regenerated cellulose membrane with "imprinted morphology" and low crystallinity was fabricated from the crystal cellulose/[Bmim]Cl solution. Spherulites of 1-butyl-3-methilimidazolium chloride ([Bmim]Cl) and cellulose/ [Bmim]Cl solution were observed using polarized optical microscopy under certain condition. The fabricated cellulose membranes presented some particular characteristics compared with the membrane prepared from traditional cellulose/[Bmim]Cl solution. All the fabricated mem… Show more

“…The calculation showed the distinct difference between membranes coagulated using the alkaline coagulation bath and the 0/0 membrane: the membrane coagulated in water shows a LOI value of 0.82 whereas all the other membranes show a LOI value within 0.62-0.65, definitely showing a smaller content of crystalline cellulose and thus a larger share of amorphous region. According to results previously reported by other researchers, the decrease in the crystallinity of the membrane would lead to a decrease in the membranes' tensile properties and a simultaneous increase in the elongation break values [12,47]. These changes might have an impact on the usability of a membrane; however, no noticeable difference was observed in the scope of this study.…”

“…Specifically, the remains of FP, FP/PAA, FP/PAA/nZVI at 750 °C were stabilized at 7.0%, 19.6% and 37.7%, respectively. The increase from 7.0% to 19.6% resulted from the thermal stability of PAA, which is higher than that of cellulose fibers 44,45 . Since the weight of nZVI was stable under nitrogen atmosphere during the TGA testing condition.…”

“…The ratio between keratin and chitosan is fixed as follows: 1%, 3%, 6%, 9%, and 15%, and components of all the solutions are shown in Table . These mixed keratin/chitosan solutions were deposited on glass plates, a scraper was used to control the thickness and smoothen the surface . After that, they were placed in an air‐circulating oven at 60 °C to evaporate the water, and immersed in 5% NaOH/ethanol (V/V = 1:1) coagulation bath to regenerate successively.…”
