The authors have no funding sources to declare. 3Abstract Purpose: To describe the epidemiology of eye trauma presenting to a regional referral health service in New South Wales, Australia. Methods:A two-stage retrospective and prospective case series study was conducted. Patients who presented with eye trauma to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital (WWBH) emergency department (ED) during a one year review period formed the retrospective case series (RCS). Patient inclusion was determined using SNOMED CT and ICD-10 codes applied to medical records. Patients presenting with eye trauma to the WWBH ED or its ophthalmology service over a prospective 80 day study period formed the prospective case series (PCS). The main outcome measures were patient demographics, eye trauma incidence for Wagga Wagga and the Murrumbidgee region and injury details.

AMAÇTürkiye'nin Batı Karadeniz bölgesindeki göz yaralanmalarının klinik özelliklerini ve görsel prognozunu belirlemek, ulusal istatistiklere veri oluşturmaktır. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEMZonguldak Karaelmas Üniversitesi Hastanesi Acil Servisi'ne 2001-2010 yılları arasında başvuran 281 göz yaralanması olgusu geriye dönük olarak incelendi. BULGULARGöz yaralanmalarının büyük kısmı (%42,7) 30-50 yaşları arasında meydana gelmişti. Yaralanmaların en sık (%28,8) nedeni kırsal alanda ahşap kaynaklı maddelerle yaralanmalar iken, 30-50 yaş arası erkeklerde en sık neden işyeri yaralanmalarıydı. Kornea-skleral kesiler ilk ve son görme keskinliği açısından en ciddi yaralanma olarak belirlendi. SONUÇGöz yaralanmaları hala sık ve önlenebilir bir körlük sebebidir. Alınacak basit tedbirler ve halkın eğitimi sayesinde iş gücü kaybı, ekonomik kayıp ve psikolojik sorunlara yol açan bu önemli problemin önüne geçilebilir. Trafikte emniyet kemeri takılması, iş yerlerinde ve kırsal alanda çalışır-ken koruyucu gözlük takılması konusunda halkın bilinçlen-dirilmesi alınacak tedbirlerin başında gelmektedir.
