Extreme ultraviolet tomography of multi-jet gas puff target for high-order harmonic generation

Abstract: A volume, tomographic reconstruction of a novel, multi-jet gas puff target, developed for possible applications in high-order harmonic generation (HHG), is presented. The target, produced by pulsed injection of argon gas through nozzle in a form of linearly oriented small orifices, has been characterized in the extreme ultraviolet at 13.5 nm wavelength. Target density estimations were performed, and 3-D representation of pulsed gaseous target has been obtained by combining 2-D shadowgram images, recorded at va… Show more

“…The most commonly used is laser interferometry [29], however, recently reported tomography of those targets is capable of visualizing them in 3-D showing in detail structures previously much more difficult to access [30,31]. In this study we have applied radiography technique (shadowgraphy) in which the gas target is backlighted with EUV pulses at 13.5 nm wavelength.…”

“…For even larger distances $3 mm from the nozzle the tertiary jets are forming as well, being a result of collision between the secondary jets. Detailed study of gas backing pressure dependence on the target formation and target density estimation based on 2-D transmission map can be found elsewhere [62,63]. Standard reconstruction algorithm is based on inverse Radon Transform (IRT).…”

“…A simple 2D shadowgram is recorded, although in the future a full 3D tomography will be measured. 13 A shadowgraph of a helium triple gas jet target with 8 bar backing pressure, has been measured with the gas off and then with gas on. An average of 5 images is recorded, each consisting of 3 shot exposures to minimise data variance.…”
